There are companies "out there" emailing offers to submit your site for $50. You will waste your money if you use this service. Unless your site is prepared professionally your site will not be listed properly assuming it is listed at all. It may not even need submitting, many Search Engines will find your site automatically.

Suprisingly most pages on the internet have not been prepared thoroughly and therefore with a little effort you can achieve success. Do not be put off, success may seem daunting but it is possible.

Preparation

Search Engines uses different techniques to rank your site. There are no simple solutions to achieving a high ranking. Google's main factor is the number of sites linking to your site. For Google a little effort is needed on your site to make it Google friendly but most effort goes into building links from other sites to yours. This process is lengthy, involves both you and us but will achieve results. Other Search Engines use more detailed analysis of your pages to determine ranking. This includes analysis of the text you can see but also analysis of "tags" - special hidden text within the code of each page which Search Engines look for. Every site should have a file installed specifically for the robots which Search Engines use to look at your site. If your site does not have one, it may not get spidered (what they call Search Engines looking at your site). There are many other things which should be done to effectively prepare your site for submission below is a brief list of the information required to prepare and submit a page. If your website designer has not done this then your site is not prepared properly. Any money spent on Search Engine promotion or submission is probably wasted.

Submission

Virtually every major Search Engine charges to process your site. However, you do not need to submit to them all. It depends on the type of customers and where they are. Language is a factor. Once your site is prepared either you or we can click on the banner below to submit your site to most of the major search engines. Please note there are 5 major engines although there are many other important niche ones, mostly language relevant. For example Kvasir (www.kvasir.no) is a major Norwegian search engine used by 60% of Norwegians.

Other tricks

There are many ways in which we can help you get visitors to your site. Many of these are "trade secrets". Some are well known although often missing from sites. All graphics images should show a hint when a mouse moves over them. This is a basic issue for the visually impaired. Flashy graphics are lovely but if you are colour blind or have problems with your eyesight the use for a graphic may be missed. Search Engines also use those hints for page ranking!
