It is essential that
all
forms which accept personal or financial information are
secure. This means that the information is protected and
can not be captured by anyone. T his is done using a Digital Certificate
(Key). Basically
it is a "large number" which is used to encode all information
passing between the users browser and your Internet Server
which processes the information the user keys. The users
browser encrypts the information using the key from your
site. The information is passed across the internet and
then decrypted by your Server which uses the same Key.
Our Security partner is Thawte.
Thawte
are one of the worlds leading suppliers of Digital Certificates.
Our ecommerce transactions are protected by a Key from Thawte and
all keys we supply are provided
by them.

Why should you get an SSL certificate or
Certificate (Key)?
- Users
of sites expect them to be protected by one.
- Your
business will gain a competitive edge when compared to
e-businesses that do not offer security.
- Most
customers will not use ecommerce from a company which
does not use a key.
- It
is a Global standard.
- All
standards bodies recommend that you have one.
- We
will not supply ecommerce solutions to anyone who will
not protect their users/customers.
- Banks
or Credit card Merchant providers insist that one is used.
How can I tell
the difference?
A page which is accessed in a
secure manner is accessed using https:// as a prefix instead of
http://. A secure page is identical to a non-secure one. It is the
prefix used which tells your browser to process the page in a secure
manner. When the browser detects your key it displays a locked padlock
on the bottom bar of
your browser window. If you put the mouse over the top of the padlock
your browser will tell you the type of Certificate used. In our case
SSL 128bit - the best and most re-assuring.
What do
I get?
|
|
We supply a Digital Certificate
called a 128-bit SuperCert.
- It
uses the highest encryption standard - 128bit. Other
types are available 40 and 56 bit. The larger the number
the more difficult it is to break.
- Older
versions of browsers only support 40 bit keys. The 128-bit
SuperCerts will support 40 bit browsers. There are many
users of these old browsers and must be considered otherwise
they can not use your ecommerce system. The majority
of users have browsers which support 128 bits.
- No
extra software is required on your Server or on the
users browser to use your site in a secure manner.
- The
certificate is installed on your server. Every server
has somewhere to put one. It is supplied electronically
by Thawte and is easily installed as part of the set
up of your server by your System Administrator or by
us.
- Thawte
are one of only two companies worldwide who provide 128bit Certificates.
